For those unfamiliar with Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, the asymmetrical multiplayer title casts four players as the titular ghostbusters, who have to work together to capture dangerous spirits plaguing the various maps in the game. A fifth player can join in on the action as well, taking control of the ghost. Like its other games, IllFonic is looking to support Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed for the long term with regular updates and DLC, the first of which is available to download today....

A brief look at the game was featured during the presentation, showing off more of Resurrection’s classic, difficult gameplay. The focus of this section was that Resurrection will include co-op play for the first time in the series. Sir Arthur will be able to team up with one of three supporting characters, each with their own unique abilities. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Thursday the star slugger is unlikely to return from his knee injury in July and that August is a “sweet spot” for getting him back in the lineup. Cashman told reporters after Wednesday’s game that Stanton went back on the injured list with a strained posterior cruciate ligament. The injury means Stanton did not travel with the team to London for its historic series against the Red Sox this weekend....

Stanton, who has 25 home runs and 70 RBIs this season, suffered the injury Aug. 13 against the White Sox on the final play of the game. He went on the disabled list the next day and was initially given a six-week timetable. MLB Network’s Jon Heyman reported Stanton could return for the final week of the regular season if things go “absolutely perfect.” But the slugger apparently healed exceptionally fast as the three-time All-Star didn’t even play in the final weekend of the minor league regular season....

The 18-year-old Andreescu, ranked 152nd in the world, beat Williams, 20 years her senior and a seven-times Grand-Slam winner, 6-7 (1/7), 6-1, 6-3. The come-from-behind victory came a day after she eliminated top seed and world number three Caroline Wozniacki. Andreescu broke Williams eight times in the match as she slugged it out from the baseline and mixed in smart drop shots which the 38-year-old American struggled to reach....

New York decided to relieve McAdoo of his duties on Dec. 4 so team officials could get a jump start on their search for a new head coach. Beyond free-falling from 11-5 to 2-10 from one year to the next, McAdoo’s fate was sealed by the inexplicable benching of starting QB Eli Manning. The Giants will look to do better with their next hire, finding a coach who can lead them to more consistent success on the sidelines....

New York lost Daniel Jones to an apparent ankle injury late in the third quarter. He was deemed questionable to return. Before exiting, Jones had completed 8 of 13 passes for 71 yards in the rain-soaked contest at MetLife Stadium. He had much more success on the ground, running for 68 yards and two touchdowns on six carries. Jones’ loss wasn’t thought to be a major problem for the Giants....

Joe Panik scored the go-ahead run in the seventh inning on Aaron Barrett’s bases-loaded wild pitch, and the Giants edged the Washington Nationals 3-2 Tuesday night to return to the NL Championship Series. The wild-card Giants won 3-1 in the best-of-five Division Series by also scoring on a walk and a groundout. Hunter Pence turned in a defensive gem in right field that helped hold the Nationals at bay as San Francisco won for the 11th time in its last 12 postseason games....

The San Francisco Giants announced McCovey’s death, saying the fearsome hitter passed “peacefully” on Wednesday afternoon “after losing his battle with ongoing health issues.” A first baseman and left fielder, McCovey was a .270 career hitter with 521 home runs and 1,555 RBIs in 22 major league seasons, 19 of them with the Giants. He also played for the Athletics and Padres. McCovey made his major league debut at 21 on July 30, 1959, and played alongside the other Willie — Hall of Famer Willie Mays — into the 1972 season before Mays was traded to the New York Mets....

“That’s the plan now,” athletic trainer Dave Groeschner said in a text message to The Associated Press . “He is good. He is out.” Bochy was taken to the hospital Monday morning with an undisclosed illness and remained there overnight. He revealed Tuesday that he’s experienced a few episodes of irregular heartbeat and was kept under observation as a precaution after his medication was changed. Despite having two stents placed in his heart last February, Bochy clarified his recent hospitalization is not related to that....

The Giants won back-to-back games against the Tampa Bay and Washington before losing 28-10 to Minnesota last Sunday. Unfortunately, they will now have to face the NFL’s top defense in Foxboro, where New England has not lost since 2017. The undefeated Patriots have outscored opponents by 121 points (155-34) through five games. For reference, that’s the second-best scoring margin since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 behind only the 1999 “Greatest Show on Turf” Rams....
