Cueto, who had been out of action since suffering an elbow sprain April 28, will start against the St Louis Cardinals.
Despite the lengthy absence, Cueto required just two minor-league rehab appearances. He allowed no runs on four hits and one walk while fanning six.
Cueto was 3-0 with a sterling 0.84 WHIP and 26 strikeouts in 32 innings pitched before his injury.
