Ghosts ’n Goblins Resurrection was first announced at The Game Awards 2020, however the game was first leaked as part of the major Capcom data breach in late 2020 under the name “Guillotine.” The game was revealed to be a Nintendo Switch exclusive title, much like the publisher’ other upcoming exclusive for the console, Monster Hunter: Rise, which was also later revealed to be a timed exclusive, with a PC port planned for some point in the future.

Now, Capcom has revealed that Ghosts ’n Goblins Resurrection will release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One later this year. The game has received mixed reception since launch, sitting at a 74 on Metacritic, with a user score of 6.8. On Opencritic, the game sits at a similar score of 74, which the website counts as a “fair” rating.

While these scores are not outwardly bad, much of the criticisms leveled towards the game were aimed at its visuals, which divided players. The game makes use of Capcom’s in-house RE Engine, the same tool used to power games such as Resident Evil: Village, Monster Hunter: Rise, and Devil May Cry 5. The game makes use of a storybook art style which many reviewers claimed made the game look more like a mobile game. Perhaps the console and PC ports of the game will add more flair to the visuals and offer better performance

Ghosts ’n Goblins: Resurrection is out now for Nintendo Switch, with PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions coming later this year.
