The video game adaptations of Ghostbusters vary in quality, from Saber Interactive’s well-regarded Ghostbusters: The Video Game to the critical failure of the Ghostbusters (2016) video game by FireForge Games. Saber Interactive’s 2009 title even got a remaster in 2019, being released on many current-gen consoles, albeit with some omissions. To continue this renewed interest in the property, Ernie Hudson, an actor who has portrayed Winston Zeddemore since the very first film, confirmed that a new game is definitely happening.

Hudson announced his involvement in this Ghostbusters game at Celebrity Fan Fest in San Antonio, Texas, being a special guest at the convention. This information was relayed through a panel that was hosted by Hudson himself, where he gave some insight into the game’s development. He explained that he received an email about scheduling a recording session for the game. The only other cast member that he knows will be a part of the game will be Dan Aykroyd, though he says it’s uncertain if Bill Murray will be a part of it as well.
Hudson also explained that he was approached about using his likeness for the Ghostbusters game itself, where he was sent prototype images of his likeness rendered in-game. He commented that the images that the studio had created using his likeness were more difficult to do, in comparison to the likes of other members of the Ghostbusters cast, like Harold Ramis and Bill Murray.
Some fans were likely aware that a new game was being developed, where a few months ago, Illfonic said it was currently developing a new Ghostbusters game alongside other titles like Arcadegeddon. With Hudson’s involvement, it seems that this news is true and that some work has already been done. When Hudson was asked about any further details surrounding it, however, he said that he didn’t know much about the game’s plot or storyline at this time, or it will be tied to a certain Ghostbusters movie or not.
A new Ghostbusters game is currently in development.
