Earlier today, Ubisoft announced that a live action film set in the world of Ghost Recon: Wildlands is currently in production. Known as “War Within the Cartel,” the film is being produced by the group Legion of Creatives and features executive producer Roberto Orci, who wrote the screenplay for some big films like Star Trek, Transformers, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and many more. To ensure a high degree of realism, the cast and crew also worked with multiple experts including both military and aviation specialists.

A short teaser for the film reveals a prequel story centered around the infamous Santa Blanca drug cartel, the faction that the Ghost squad eventually goes up against in the game. After an attack on their compound, the organization’s senior leadership go on the hunt for a traitor to exact revenge on the individual. Rapper and actor Tip “T.I.” Harris has also signed on to the role of Marcus, a member of the Santa Blanca cartel.
Earlier this week, Ubisoft gave fans a glimpse at the upcoming open world title with another look at a familiar stealth mission. While both stealth and tactical options were explored in previous trailers, the Operation Skydive gameplay trailer shows what happens when players decide to go loud. Going in at dusk, the squad split up with one player taking out enemies from a distance, one skydiving from a chopper, and the final two using the heavy machine gun on the chopper to light up the remaining grunts. All in all, the job is done in roughly a minute with the team extracting shortly after.
