There are several different armor sets in Ghost of Tsushima that the player can unlock as they progress through the game, and each provides different bonuses. These benefits often promote a specific type of playstyle, so although some armor sets can be difficult to obtain, it’s well worth the effort spent to find something that complements each player’s approach.

While the Ghost armor set promotes stealth, the Gosaku armor set does just the opposite, granting the player unprecedented durability in combat allowing them to brute force their way through even the toughest of situations.
In order to obtain the Gosaku armor set, the player will first need get to Act 2 of Ghost of Tsushima. Despite how powerful this set is, the player can start the quest to unlock it as soon as they complete Act 2’s first main tale, “A New Horizon.” Assuming this has been done, head to Akashima village and listen to the musician’s tale of Gosaku the Unbreakable. This will start a Mythic Tale which leads to the Gosaku armor set by the end. This quest isn’t particularly difficult, but it will have the player running around the map quite a bit, so be prepared for a trek and lots of fighting.
After obtaining this armor, equipping it will grant the player a “massive increase to health,” “major increase to stagger damage,” and restore the player’s health by 20% after each kill of a staggered enemy. These all synergize well together, as the player will be able to take more hits while staggering the enemy more often, which in turn will result in them healing the damage they’ve taken. This is a very different approach to the game than other stealthy armor sets, instead relying on tanking damage and dealing devastating blows with Jin’s katana but it can be a ton of fun.
Players wanting to complete the look and obtain the Gosaku helmet will need to upgrade Gosaku’s armor at an armorer in order to unlock it. This is advised anyway for players planning on using the set, but gives the added benefit of this sweet looking helmet. The path to getting the set may not be easy, but the rest of the game might be after equipping it.
Ghost of Tsushima is available now exclusively for PS4.
